Agronomy/Outside Services

This position requires someone who enjoys outdoor work, and the operation and maintenance of farm machinery as well as irrigation & pumping equipment etc.  It would require that you enjoy working within a team setting to apply effluent and compost in a timely fashion in accordance with crop and seasonal requirements.  An independent person with initiative will enjoy the variety of tasks and responsibilities performed in the daily operations utilizing modern technology and farming practices.

Director of Operations

Pillen Family Farms is a family owned business located in Nebraska.  We market approximately 1.4 million pigs annually.  Our pigs are raised in company owned farms in Nebraska and utilize our own company drivers and company owned feed mills.

This position will be responsible for leading and managing numerous commercial Farm Managers.  The position will support Farm Managers in their decision making process in order to hold farms accountable for measurable targets.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to business analysis and planning, development of annual operational targets as well as long range strategic goals, and developing and ensuring all communications are coordinated to the respective managers.

This position will be a key part of our leadership team and provide input and support.

Requirement:

A Minimum of 7-10 years supervisory experience in production. Previous leadership experience with large groups. Should have experience leading change through people. Must have exceptional organizational and communication skill. The home base should be near Columbus, Nebraska.

DNA Genetics- Genetic Performance Testing Site Leader

This position is responsible for the oversight and management of a 3,000 head nursery and 8,000 head finisher near Winner, South Dakota. 

This position will be engaged in managing all daily activities/processes related to raising, testing, and selecting animals, in accordance with protocols and procedures established by the Company and its customer.  The position will lead a Team of 5 people and be engaged in recruiting, hiring, training, leading, planning, managing, coaching and mentoring.  This will also include the administration of all personnel-related functions, such as performance reviews, attendance, and disciplinary situations.

The Site Leader will establish and maintain open communication with all farm staff, production manager, veterinarians and the management team.  This position will be responsible to monitor and maintain appropriate ventilation and room environments, as well as responsible for timely and accurate reporting of records. Finally, this position will ensure strict adherence to all established biosecurity principles.

DNA Nucleus Production Technician

DNA Genetics is currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill a full-time position at their Genetic Nucleus Farm.  This position is ideal for a person who enjoys science, technology, and animals.  Qualified individuals will be responsible for animal husbandry and production in their designated areas.  This position will be involved with the accurate collection of data during the different production phases.

Electrician

Looking for an Electrician. Daily responsibilities will include pulling wire, terminating, trouble-shooting, etc. Will also be required to understand the terms of biosecurity within our business (training will be provided). General electrical knowledge preferred. Maintenance and mechanical skills also a plus. Will be working in the barns on fans, generators, feed systems, etc.

Genetic Programs

Responsibilities for this position will include working on the commercial farm involved in the DNA Genetics Full Program Test project collecting accurate data for the project. Opportunities to learn all aspects of a farrow to wean production farm will occur. This is a full-time on-farm position that will include working weekends.
